This chapter reviews the importance of acute malnutrition in natural disasters and the management principles in relation to the severity. Emphasis is put on screening of individuals, feeding programmes for individuals with severe conditions and management of moderate condition. Children, pregnant women and the elderly as well as individuals with HIV/AIDS or tuberculosis, have been identified as vulnerable. In the context of disasters, special feeding programmes should be included in the systematic public health preparedness and response efforts to address acute malnutrition from the beginning.
