Laboratory and field experiments involving the windrowing device on a mower conditioner were used to investigate the possibility of determining grass yield by way of measuring the required power input for operating the device. To this end, the drop in hydraulic pressure at the hydraulic motor driving the windrowing device was measured. A comparison with power input requirement values, as determined by a torque meter, showed that pressure drop measurements yielded excellent results.
