âPrecision agricultureâ is a great buzzword in todayâs modern farming vocabulary. Despite the inclusion of the word âprecisionâ, the phrase encompasses an enormous range of variability in terms of the physical technologies available now, what is probable in the near future and what may be possible in the not too distant future. The advantages to be gained by site-specific agriculture can be looked for in increased plant health, more productive time, labour and resource management and most importantly, a vast increase in site-specific knowledge. Precision agriculture has a huge role to play in the increasingly important field of quality assurance. While the full leap into precision agriculture is generally a very costly one in Australia, there are incremental options to entering the field of site-specific farming that can begin a most exciting journey into precision agriculture.
