The potential of an imaging spectroscopy system with high spatial (0.28-1.45 mm²) and spectral (5-13 nm) resolution was explored as a tool for grassland management. Ground cover (GC) was strongly (R²_adj=0.87-0.95) related to light interception. Growth and seasonal yield (R²_adj=0.93) were monitored accurately. Seasonal means of spatial standard deviation of GC differentiated dense from damaged swards. Wavelet entropy of image line texture differentiated clover, grass and mixed swards. Drought stress was detected in an early stage and N deficiency was quantified with spectral parameters. Predictions of dry matter yield, nutritive value and nutrient contents (N, P, K) were accurate and robust. It was concluded that imaging spectroscopy can be a valuable information source for improvements of grassland management.
