A standard solution is needed for the non-uniform manufacturer networking of agricultural computer systems. Due to the anticipated exponential growth of the Industrial Ethernet, agriculture should also use this technology. A close linking of âagricultural standardsâ to an established industrial standard is recommended. Based on Ethernet IP/TPC and UDP, a concept for an âAgrar BUSâ is presented. Here a middleware is responsible for the network services and communication to the applications, and a web based document exchange serves as the basis for a uniform user interface. Both the equipment and the data objects are mapped with XML. A rapid standardisation under the auspices of the ISO is recommended.
