About the Author
Dr Tasos Barkatsas is a Senior Academic in Mathematics, Statistics and STEM Education, a Quantitative Data Analyst and the Leader of the STEM, Industry 4 and Learning Sciences Research Theme, School of Education, RMIT University.
Dr Barkatsas was the Founding Program Director of the RMIT Master of Teaching Practice (MTP) Programs (Primary and Secondary), has published more than 150 research papers, chapters, books and refereed conference papers and has delivered a number of invited keynote addresses. He serves in more than 10 international journal Editorial Boards.
Dr Barkatsas is a Literacy and Numeracy Test for Initial Teacher Education students (LANTITE) National Expert Group Delegate (Australia).
Dr Barkatsas was a Mathematics, Physics, Science and IT teacher, Head of Mathematics and Science and Principal in Victorian schools for fifteen years before becoming an academic. He has been an academic at the University of Melbourne, Monash University and RMIT University, Australia.
Dr Barkatsas is a researcher in the Grupo de Investigation Interdisciplinario en Intelligencia Digital sobre Procesos Educativos (INDIE) - Intersdisciplinary Research Group on Digital Intelligence about Educational Processes (INDIE), University of Salamanca, Spain and a Principal Research Fellow (Honorary), Hellenic Society of Educational Evaluation.
Dr Barkatsas is a delegate in the College of Design and Social Context, RMIT Universityâs Human Ethics Advisory Network (CHEAN) and the School of Educationâs Research Committee.
Dr Barkatsas has been a Visiting Professor at the National University of Athens, Greece (2004), The Nelson Mandela Metropolitan University, South Africa (2012) and the University of Salamanca, Spain, in 2022, 2023 and 2025.
