Abstract

The Polish media scene is dominated by two main opposing camps, which have already been the subject of many media studies and analyses. However, media outside the mainstream also enjoy huge popularity. The aim of this text is to analyse the data contained in journalistic articles on such portals as Magna Polonia, Polonia Christiana and Lewica.pl. The research was carried out in the paradigm of distant reading proposed by Franco Moretti. The key thematic area of the conducted analyses is the reconstruction of the political aesthetics used by authors of the articles and the editorial line of the portals in question. Using the Common Language Resources and Technology Infrastructure (clarin-pl) tools, three corpora of several thousand articles from radical news portals were created. From these, some excerpts regarding practices, expressions, and creations as well as the associated values and aesthetic qualities were then extracted and quantitatively analysed in terms of subject areas, word frequency and stylometric aspects. By analysing the above corpora an attempt was made to reconstruct the political aesthetics created by the editors and authors of the texts, characteristic of each of the portals in question.
