Abstract

The chapter is an analysis of experimental techniques in life writing of avant-gardes artists, based on the examples of Georges Perec’s auto-fictions, Stefan Themerson’s Bayamus, Stanisław Barańczak’s postcards, Steven Zultanski’s The Pad and its Polish conceptual translation created by Piotr Marecki (Interes), as well as the digital work 113983 created by Piotr Marecki and Leszek Onak, which accompanied the translation. It is based on the premise that autobiographical acts are doubly entangled in the political sense: in relation to poetics and documentation. Consequently, it is important to recognise how authors transgress not only the aesthetic conventions of the genre, its poetics, but also how they problematise their own socio-historical milieu.
