Acknowledgments
This book project originated several years ago while we, the editors, were all members of the Research Committee of the European Forum for Restorative Justice. We never expected it would take this long to come to fruition, but we are delighted with how it has turned out and really proud of the result.
We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and express our gratitude to the many people who made this possible by contributing either with chapters, reviews or discussions. Without their input, this book would certainly not have become what it is today.
We are especially grateful to the authors, who not only agreed to take part but also demonstrated extraordinary diligence, commitment, and patience throughout the process! Many stepped outside their comfort zones to write chapters the way we requested, by taking the time to reflect honestly and constructively on how they have gone about doing their (often pioneering) research. The final product makes for a truly unique collection of chapters, which we believe will be invaluable for supporting future research in the field and beyond.
In addition to the authors, we would like to thank Borbala Fellegi, Gemma Varona, Heather Strang, Ida Helene Asmussen, Ingun Fornes, Jane Bolitho, Joan Pennell, John Braithwaite, Lin Adrian, Tali Gal, Ivo Aertsen and Tinneke Van Camp, each of whom contributed in one way or another to what this book has become.
We also want to thank our institutions, the European Forum for Restorative Justice, and our publishers, Eleven and subsequently Brill, for their enthusiastic support in undertaking and finalising this project.
Finally, we want to express love and gratitude to our families, who accompanied and supported us throughout this long Odyssey!
