Abstract

The aim of this paper is to reconstruct Leszek Nowakâs views on the historiosophy of liberalism. While Nowak did not deal more broadly with liberalism, liberal philosophy was an important point of reference for his own historiosophical research. In the first part of the paper, I reconstruct the basic anthropological assumptions and those concerning the nature of society with which Leszek Nowak characterizes liberal historiosophy. In the second part, I reconstruct the libertarian model of the evolution of state institutions from anarchy to a minimal state by Robert Nozick â one of the main representatives of philosophical and social libertarianism. In the third and last part of the paper, I compare Nozick and Nowakâs approach to modeling the historical process and draw conclusions about the similarities and differences between liberal historiosophy and its counterparts derived from the Marxist tradition.
