Abstract

This chapter examines contemporary education based on mathematics educational values by reflecting on the influence of cultural diversity. The case study involved two Turkish and two Australian mathematics teachers, selected through criterion sampling. Data were collected via individual interviews. The results revealed that ICT, visualization, concretization, motivation, feedback, progressive, self-assessment, relevance, creativity, reasoning, control, abstraction, and practicality are mathematics educational values and over-confidence is a harmful value in contemporary education. However, practicality can also have negative implications depending on how they are applied in classroom practices. These values were determined as the values carried by the teacher, student and artificial intelligence to the classroom. Furthermore, it was determined that the frequency of harmful values increased in proportion to the frequency of digital tools and artificial intelligence in classroom practices.
