Overview

Finding and inspiring hope for middle school students in my English language arts classroom has posed its share of challenges over the past 7 years. Despite the challenges such as teaching online during a pandemic, my research of Positive Psychology paired with Hope theory have inspired me to persevere as an educator. Teaching my students to develop a positive and growth mindset has allowed me to engage them in creative lessons and inspire them to become lifelong learners. Daily I incorporate engaging activities that get students to dig deeper literature and make text to self-connections. In my classroom, students are invited to share their voices, have meaningful discussions based on works of literature and create thoughtful pieces of writing.
