Overview

At the heart of my educational philosophy is the aspiration to foster purposeful, direct, and lasting growth in students. This chapter details my objective as a teacher to develop students into educated individuals capable of tackling their futures with passion and hope. By promoting multiculturalism and diversity, I aim to create an inclusive learning environment that can help to distill hope into students’ lives. This chapter provides some examples of the ways I have done that in my classroom. Equity in education necessitates a focused approach to classroom management, material selection, and a curriculum that serves students from diverse backgrounds and abilities. This exposure helps students understand and engage with the complexities of the world. I see my role as one of facilitating lessons, engaging students actively, and guiding them towards self-discovery and development. By challenging the “Hidden Curriculum,” my belief is that students should receive more equitable educational activities geared towards promoting growth, understanding, and cultural appreciation. Hope is the pivotal component of my philosophy, inspiring students through short-term achievements and long-term aspirations. Creating a hopeful classroom involves allowing students to set meaningful goals, minimizing traditional grading, and encouraging self-advocacy.
