Overview

Providing tangible metaphors in writing classrooms to students can assist when students are in search of making new discoveries (Greene, 1995; Lakoff, 2003; Snyder, 1991). Incorporating an action based multidimensional approach to the teaching of writing, demonstrates pedagogy that is agency based and qualitatively driven (Pace, 2013b; Snyder, 1991). This paper demonstrates approaches to finding hope in an expository and professional college writing course. Through instructors’ narratives and multimodal performative structures, the examples provide a “writing hope” approach that actuates beyond the classroom (Sieben, 2018).
