Abstract

In this chapter, we introduce a systemic approach to authentic evaluation in tertiary engineering education about mathematics teaching effectiveness. We conceptualise the educational unit as a learning organisation and we obtain multiple viewings of the lived realities as experienced by different educational protagonists, including the evaluator. By communicating the diversely experienced lived realities to the protagonists, the system becomes aware of its existence as such, whilst through a series of reflections the disjointed protagonists become intentional systemic actors. The discussion of our theoretical methodological approach is complemented with a discussion of its ongoing empirical implementation in a tertiary educational unit in Greece.
