Strategies for the development of fat tail sheep in the Near East

Editors: and
The Near East has more than 242 million head of sheep, most of which are fat-tail breeds. People in the Near East exalt fat-tail sheep because of the quality of lamb and mutton they produce. However, few countries have made serious and concerted efforts to improve their sheep, in particular with respect to the rapid socioeconomic changes which are taking place. Thus the workshop on Strategies for the development of fat-tail sheep in the Near East aimed at exploring ways of improving the sheep industry in this region. This publication shows the results.
