Abstract

This chapter analyzes the primary possible risks facing the Beijing Olympic Games in the areas of management and defense, public safety, traffic control, air pollution, the destruction of information, food safety, travel safety, public security, social order, and terrorist activities. It proposes corresponding solutions. The Olympic events are athletic sports events with great commercial benefit and in addition to the fierce sportsmanship driving the inter-athlete competition, there are also various cultural and racial conflicts. The international undertaking of managing and organizing the Olympics is different from the work of organizing a simple sports match; the Olympics are a forum of exchange for different cultures and political and social norms. The safety of the Olympics is dependent on the idea of a technical Olympics for success. In addition to the Olympics arena, the guesthouses, malls, theaters, and parks open to tourists are also key areas to plan for safety and security.
