Except for Freud (1939) and Reich, this collection of articles were taken from the pages of the journal IMAGO in the 1920s. IMAGO is the journal established by Freud in 1912 that remains in publication. The articles are written by a number of early psychoanalysts and reflect a wide interest in relating analysis to religion. They represent Freud’s interest in establishing such a means of dialogue.
This selection also includes an account of Freud’s friendship with Oskar Pfister, a Swiss pastor who became an analyst. Pfister wrote the review of Freud’s The Future of an IllusionIMAGO titled The Illusion of the Future that is included in this volume.
