If the true educator is the Soul then the outer educator is the facilitator and co-learner. If the Soul can be conceived as a spectrum of qualities, then ethics can be seen as the natural way in which the Soul expresses itself. If we lived as souls, we would be harmless, truthful, joyous, selfless etc. because this is the way in which the soul lives naturally. Educating for ethical thinking and behaviour is a way to get closer to the Soul and accelerate its contact with human consciousness. This paper describes the place that ethics can have in educating for a new consciousness and right human relations by detailing those aspects of ethics needed in today’s world. This includes the right use of energy (both physical and psychic), of power, ego transcendence and planetary responsibility. The paper explores the therapeutic effects of ethical behaviour and makes an argument for ethical education not as theory but as a practice, a spiritual exercise in daily life
