Abstract

An important mission of the 1929 Breslau Wohn- und Werkraum Exhibition (WuWA) was to instruct the average German in its audience in how Neues Bauen architecture could help transform each one of them into a modern subject—a New Man and a New Woman. WuWA accomplished this goal with a variety of housing types, from multi-family dwellings to villas. In this way, WuWA architecture could educate Germans of all classes, from the working poor to the privileged rich, in how to become a New German.
