Abstract

This article is an autoethnography discussing the positive impact of art-based research on Black males. As the article’s subject, I share my creative origins, lived experiences, and the present effect of re-embracing my artistic identity. Arts-based research provides a unique opportunity to engage diverse learners through a mosaic of artistic mediums. Art-based research has academic and socioemotional benefits for marginalized scholars that traditional methodologies cannot produce. Students and educators are provided with pragmatic strategies to engage diverse learners through art-based research.
