Abstract

The computer is the basic tool of the corpus linguist when it comes to analysing large amounts of language data. But as soon as the task at hand goes beyond the gathering of a small set of concordance lines from a small corpus, it is necessary to think about the software that is being used. In this paper some of the practical problems of working with corpora are discussed, and a software system called CUE is presented as a possible solution. CUE is freely available for academic research purposes.
