Abstract

The article provides an overview and critical analysis of anti-corruption instruments developed by the European Communities/European Union under its various treaty regimes. This contribution highlights significant innovations in the fight against corruption on the European level and discusses main deficiencies of the respective legal instruments. Finally, the question whether the EU is a pioneer as to ant-corruption policies in Europe or even worldwide is tackled.
