Abstract

This paper presents the phonological theories of Tadeusz BatÃ³g. We try to show that there are three stages in the development of BatÃ³g's phonological ideas (i.e. distributional, phonetic and semantic one). All the axioms proposed by BatÃ³g, as well as his construction of phonemic basis of an idiolect and the fundamental hypothesis of phonology are discussed.
