A general definition of presupposition induced by the subject NP, in which no notion of negation is explicitly used, is proposed within the framework of generalized quantifiers theory. Some formal properties are established and the relationship with classical versions of presuppositions is made explicit. Applications to various constructions, in particular to constructions with exclusive and inclusive clauses are provided.
