The translations from Latin to English and Dutch to English are my own, unless otherwise stated in the footnotes. A number of translations were based on the Latin to Dutch translations of others: I am in the debt of Jelte Wiersma, who translated De Peccato Originali of 1679, and Tim Wauters, who provided me with his Dutch translations of the Latin letters that Beverland sent to Jacobus Gronovius and Nicolaas Heinsius, which can be found in the EG and EH collections. I would like to thank both Jelte and Tim, as well as Floris Verhaart, Rudolf de Smet, Ida Toth, and Henk Nellen who have all supported me in getting the translations right.
