Abstract

This chapter clarifies the distinction between trivialism and explosionism, particularly within the context of metaphysical inquiry. It addresses concerns regarding the potential meaninglessness of metaphysical questions, especially those related to existence, and examines the historical doctrine of pantheism. While a full defence of pantheism is not undertaken, it is suggested as the doctrine most closely aligning with the position presented. Three key points are advanced: First, explosionism is distinguished from trivialism, with an emphasis on the God-like Entity not merely asserting that everything exists, but actively making everything the case. Second, a realist version of pantheism is introduced, which posits non-representational features of reality. Lastly, the chapter considers whether pantheism is explosive, and if so, whether it can contribute to a clearer, more objective understanding of the God-like Entity.
