The Beijing Normal University International Education Series (BNIE) is mainly based on the special issues of the Beijing International Review of Education (BIRE), the official English journal of Beijing Normal University, as an occasional volume in international educational theory and empirical education science. The series is a means for reaching a wider audience especially for journal issue-based themes that are enduring.
Since being established in 2019 and having published 8 issues up until the end of 2020 (4 issues per year), the journal Beijing International Review of Education is focused on the critical issues in the field of education and includes issues such as âThe Future of Teaching,â âJohn Dewey and Chinese Education: A Centennial Reflection,â âVisual Inquiry in Educational Research,â âPlay in Childhood,â and âDigital Youth.â In these issues, well-established scholars and emerging younger scholars around the world have contributed with their recent research. In the future, we will have more policy-oriented issues to emphasize the important international themes in education with also a specific section of the journal devoted to âChina Watch,â alerting readers to major new initiatives in Chinese education. It is a broadly conceived review of educational issues. We consider the journal, and this book series (BNIE), as significant platforms to exchange the pioneering research in educational studies. We want to provide high quality research of educational study on society, culture, and economy and to develop cutting-edge new research of interest to academics, policy makers, teachers and postgraduate students. The series also has the capacity to published books that expand on journal themes and also to adopt new themes and issues.
Both the book series and the journal BIRE is published by Brill. We are very happy that we have this opportunity to collaborate with Brill, which is both very professional and very open to the ideas we proposed.
In todayâs world, the trajectory of globalization has become more uncertain and faces many serious challenges. It is even more important to have a global vision and make the continuous international exchange of ideas possible. We wish that the Beijing Normal University International Education Series will play its role on exchanging ideas and we invite more scholars around the world to join us by contributing to this series.
