Acknowledgements
This volume originates in the conference ‘Olympiodorus of Alexandria: Exegete, Teacher, Philosopher’, held at Utrecht University on December 14–15, 2017. I would like to thank all participants for the constructive discussions. In addition to the authors in this volume, Maria Chriti, Sonsoles Costero Quiroga and Pauliina Remes also presented papers. Anna Motta kindly agreed to join the team of contributors after the conference. I would like to thank all the authors for their willingness to read and comment on chapters by their co-authors, and particularly to Harold Tarrant for reading them all. The volume has also profited from the helpful points raised by the anonymous reviewer for Philosophia Antiqua. I am grateful to Hilde Bos for assistance with compiling the indices.
The conference was hosted by the Department of Philosophy and Religious Studies of Utrecht University and generously supported by the Dutch Research Council (NWO) under VENI grant 275-20-049, Socratic Educations, PI: Albert Joosse. Work on this volume was also supported through this grant, as well as by the Dutch ministry of Education, Culture and Science (OCW) through the Dutch Research Council (NWO), as part of the Anchoring Innovation Gravitation Grant research agenda of OIKOS, the National Research School in Classical Studies, the Netherlands (project number 024.003.012).
