This article offers an autoethnographic analysis of the methodological and ethical challenges involved in conducting research with Kurdish women fighters in the PKK. Based on fieldwork carried out between 2017 and 2020 in the Kurdish regions of Iraq and Syria as well as Europe, the article examines how the authorâs positionality shaped access, trust-building, and knowledge production in a militarized and politically sensitive environment. It argues that feminist research does not depend on the researcherâs gender, but on sustained reflexivity and an awareness of the power dynamics that operate between researcher, participants, and institutions. The analysis highlights how working in conflict zones entails navigating security concerns, institutional risk management, and the emotional and political pressures associated with researching a marginalized, criminalized, and colonized movement. The article contributes to debates on feminist methodology, decolonial research practice, and the politics of doing fieldwork in the context of Kurdish armed struggle.
Ev gotare analîzek otoetnografîk ya dijwarîyên rêbazî û etîkî yên di lêkolîna digel Åervanên jinên Kurd yên di nav PKKê da pêÅkêŠdike. Li ser bingeha lêkolîna xebata meydanî ya ku di navbera salên 2017 û 2020an da li herêmên Kurdan yên Iraq û Sûriyeyê û her weha yên li Ewropayê hatiye kirin, gotar dinirxîne ka çawa kesayetîya nivîskarî di rewÅek leÅkerî û ji alîyê siyasî ve hestîyar da bandor li ser gihîÅtin, avakirina baweriyê û hilberîna zanînê kirîye. Li gorî vê nêrînê, lêkolîna femînîst ne bi zayenda lêkolîner ve girêdayî ye, lê bi rexnekirina xwe ya domdar û têgihijiÅtina dînamîkên hêzê yên di navbera lêkolîner, beÅdar û saziyan da ve girêdayî ye. Analîz destnîÅan dike ka çawa xebata li herêmên pevçûnê dihêt wateya rêvebirina pirsgirêkên ewlehiyê, rêvebirina metirsiyên sazûmanî, û zextên hestyarî û siyasî yên ku bi lêkolîna ser bizavekî ku hatî pêrim kirin, tawanbar kirin û dagir kirin ve girêdayî ne. Gotar di çarçoveya têkoÅîna çekdarî ya Kurdan da alîkarîya nîqaÅên li ser rêbaza femînîst, pratîka lêkolînê ya dij-kolonyal û siyaseta xebata meydanî dike.
