World Economics and Politics 世界经济与政治

launched by the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in 1979, is a journal that focuses on theories of international relations study. It adheres to the principle of combining studies of international politics and world economy. It also seeks to combine theory and practice and balance studies of domestic and international issues. The journal is devoted to improve the comprehensiveness, foresight and innovation of research and catches up with the latest development of relevant disciplines and the times. Chapter 2, “Globalization, Convergence, and China’s Economic Development,” originally appeared in Shijie jingji yu zhengzhi 《世界经济与政治》 (World Economics and Politics) (2019.3): 4–18. Chapter 11, “What Kind of Globalization Does the Trump Administration Want?” appeared in World Economics and Politics, 463 (2019.3): 44–56.

Tsinghua PBCSF Global Finance Forum 清华五道口全球金融论坛

organized by People’s Bank of China (PBC) School of Finance. Chapter 3, “The Rejuvenation of the Chinese Nation is Unstoppable,” was originally a speech delivered at this forum on May 25th, 2019.

Pushan Lectures 浦山讲坛

organized by The Shanghai Pu Shan New Finance Development Foundation (Pu Shan Foundation). Chapter 4, “Reconstructing Global Industrial Chains under the Pandemic, and China’s Response” was presented at the Pushan Lectures (浦山讲坛) on May 27, 2020.

The Journal of World Economy 世界经济

is a monthly journal and the official publication of the Institute of World Economics and Politics, Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, a major think tank in China, and the Chinese Association of World Economy, the premier academic organization in China devoted to the study and promotion of knowledge about international economic issues. The Journal of World Economy is one of the leading economics journals and one of the most widely cited journals in all of economics as well in China. The special emphasis is on theoretical and empirical research in all areas of international economics. Chapter 5, “Global Value Chains, National Value Chains, and Economic Growth: Substitutional or Complementary?” was originally published in Chinese in Shijie jingji 《世界经济》 [The Journal of World Economy], (2020.4): 3–27.

Social Sciences in China (SSIC) 中国社会科学

is a peer-reviewed quarterly founded in 1980 by the Social Sciences in China Press (SSCP). It is the first social science journal in English published in the Chinese mainland, and is committed to China-related studies. Its articles are translated from the Journal of Social Sciences in China (Chinese edition) or solicited for special issues. SSIC is a platform projecting new realms, new trends and new achievements in Chinese academic studies. It introduces the latest developments in Chinese social sciences to foreign audience and bridges social sciences researchers and readers worldwide. It is a valuable resource for China studies and its international influence is ever-increasing.

Many of SSIC’s Chinese authors are famous in their own fields, and it also has increasing overseas contributors from the US, the UK, Germany, Singapore, Australia, Japan, South Korea, etc.

SSIC is especially appealing to scholars of regional studies and many articles in SSIC are cited by worldwide publications and authors. As one of the best-selling social science journals published in the Chinese mainland in English, it enjoys an ever-increasing international visibility: it has received subscriptions and circulation from libraries, institutions and individuals around the world, and it also gains access to dozens of key international conferences.

Chapter 6, “Change in the International Order—and China’s Options,” was originally published in Zhongguo shehui kexue 《中国社会科学》 [Social Sciences in China] (2019.3): 187–203.

Management World 管理世界

is supervised by the Development Research Center of The State Council, and sponsored by the Development Research Center of The State Council. It aims to reflect the multi-field and multi-disciplinary research on China’s economic and social management issues, and to provide services for China’s economic reform and development. Its scope covers fiscal and financial research, rural economics, macroeconomic management, public management, business management, industrial and regional development. The journal, included in CSSCI and JST, has been in the top list in the field of economic management for many years, and has achieved a very high reputation from readers all over the world. Chapter 7, “Changes in the International Economic Landscape and China’s Strategic Options in the Next Fifteen Years: Research Group for ‘Changes in the International Economic Landscape and China’s Strategic Options’ ” was originally published in Guanli shijie [Management World] (2018.12): 1–12.

International Economic Review 国际经济评论

launched by the Institute of World Economics and Politics, the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, in 1996, is a policy review journal that focuses on international relations, economy and politics and Chinese macroeconomics. It is highly reputed in China’s academic, political and industrial circles for its thoughtfulness, policy reference and academic standards. Chapter 8, “WTO Reform: The Global Approach and China’s Position,” was originally printed in Guoji jingji pinglun 《国际经济评论》 [International Economic Review] (2019.2):32–43. Chapter 9, “Adjusting China’s Foreign Economic and Trade Strategies Is in Line with Its Own Strategic Interests,” was originally published in Guoji jingji pinglun 《国际经济评论》 [International Economic Review] (2019.2): 98–111. Chapter 12, “Identity Politics and the Evolution of World Order,” was also published in International Economic Review, 142 (2019.4): 90–107.

Annual Report on Actions to Address Climate Change (2018): Gathering in Katowice 《应对气候变化报告—气候变化绿皮书 (2018)》

Green Book of Climate Change is an authoritative annual publication compiled by experts from Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, China Meteorological Administration and distinguished scholars on climate change in China. Since the first publication Report on Actions to Address Climate Change (2009): towards Copenhagen, the Green Book has made persistent efforts in the past decade to stand at the forefront of the time, raise strong voices from China, comment on the international game, and consider the improvement of domestic transformation, which has produced a positive and extensive impact in the domestic and overseas. Annual Report on Actions to Address Climate Change (2018): Gathering in Katowice, based on the summary of the progress and actions taken in the past decade to address climate change, focuses on the latest trends, developments and issues worldwide, and proposes a Chinese approach for the global response to climate change. Chapter 10, “Towards a Climate Resilience Society: Challenges and Prospects,” was originally published in 《应对气候变化报告—气候变化绿皮书 (2018) 》 [Annual Report on Actions to Address Climate Change (2018)], edited by Xie Fuzhan 谢伏瞻 and Liu Yaming 刘雅鸣. Green Book of Climate Change, No. 10 (Beijing: Shehui kexue wenxian chubanshe, 2018), 66–78.

Philosophical Trends 哲学动态

is a dynamic, leading edge academic journal of philosophy founded in 1963. It is supported by the Institute of Philosophy at the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences (CASS). The basic tasks and main features of Philosophy Trends are that it adheres to the duties and responsibilities of academic leadership; it provides a wide-ranging forum for debates and discussions of philosophical issues at home and abroad; it reflects current issues, innovative trends, and new achievements throughout the various branches of philosophy; it publishes peer-reviewed philosophical papers as well as current research projects and materials; it focuses on contemporary discussions and debates concerning important practical issues of philosophy; and it encourages reflective and insightful critique and responses. Since its establishment over fifty years ago, Philosophical Trends has been highly received by the academic community and welcomed by specialists and non-specialists alike for its cutting-edge and exploratory nature, and the reprinting rate of articles published by the journal ranks at the forefront of similar journals. Chapter 13, “The ‘Proximate Sorrows’ and ‘Distant Worries’ of the AI ‘Revolution’: An Ethical and Ontological Analysis,” was originally printed in Zhexue dongtai 《哲学动态》 [Philosophical Trends] (2018.4): 5–12.
