The Yearbook provides general information on the judicial work, organization and administration of the Tribunal.
Each volume of the Yearbook covers the period from 1 January to 31 December of the year for which it is published. This volume, which is the twenty-third in the series to date, covers calendar year 2019.
The Yearbook is prepared and published by the Registry and in no way involves the responsibility of the Tribunal; in particular, information on Judgments and Orders contained in chapter IV cannot be quoted against the actual texts of those Judgments and Orders and does not constitute an interpretation thereof.
Throughout the Yearbook, the following abbreviated titles have been used:
“Convention” for the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea;
“Statute” for the Statute of the International Tribunal for the Law of the Sea;
“Rules” for the Rules of the Tribunal;
“Resolution” for the Resolution on the Internal Judicial Practice of the Tribunal; and
“Guidelines” for the Guidelines concerning the Preparation and Presentation of Cases before the Tribunal.
