Acknowledgements
The volume at hand collects a series of 9 papers stemming from an international conference which aimed to study the use of questions and answers (Q&A) in ancient medical literature: Where Does It Hurt? Ancient Medicine in Questions and Answers (Leuven, August 30–31, 2016). Most of the papers read during this conference are published, after revision, in the present volume. I would like to record my sincere gratitude to the contributors for their pleasant cooperation and for their patience in the face of delay. Special thanks to Dr. Erika Gielen for co-organising the event in Leuven and to the KU Leuven Doctoral School for the Humanities and Social Sciences, the Department of Literary Studies, the De Wulf-Mansion Centre for Ancient, Medieval and Renaissance Philosophy, and the Leuven Centre for the Study of the Transmission of Texts and Ideas in Antiquity, the Middle Ages and the Renaissance (Lectio) for their financial and organisational support. The conference was organised in conclusion of my postdoctoral project “Between Tradition, Ingenuity and Innovation. Authorial Strategies in Ancient Greek Natural Problems” (funded by the Research Foundation Flanders—FWO).
