Abstract

Salary levels and salary development trends serve as a barometer for forecasting changes in the relationship between supply and demand in the labor force. Research shows that from the mid-1990s to 2003, the salary level of out-of-town migrant workers increased slowly, which had much to do with the comparative stability of supply and demand patterns and the continued expansion of employment for out-of-town laborers. The increased demand for migrant labor is the primary factor stimulating the growth of rural worker salaries. During the period of the 10th Five Year Plan, China?s economic growth rate accelerated. The average annual GDP growth rate reached 9.5%, which was 0.9% faster than the 9th Five Year Plan period. Growth of the economy and expansion of the scale of investment have created more working opportunities for migrant workers.
