Abstract

Currently, the socio-economic development of China has entered a new phase, ushering in a series of complex new challenges. At this new historical starting point, the central government has emphasized the need for technological development and the establishment of a socialist ?harmonious society? that embodies the spirit of relevant progress, steady foresight, and continued advancement. The income gap among the general population in China is considerably large. The discrepancy in earnings within the western and eastern regions was greater than the discrepancies existing within the central regions. Policymakers must stop evaluating growth purely on the oversimplified indicator of GDP alone, but rather, should consider a comprehensive, harmonious, and sustainable growth that values people over numbers.
