Understanding all of the processes and thoughts involved in the design of Pharaonic architecture is almost impossible. To overcome this deficit, we advocate the study of the ancient art of building according to the purposes of its designers. Thus the research on space presented here aims to avoid being influenced by our Western attitude regarding the relations between geometry and proportion in architecture. Construction techniques are considered regarding the ideal of inalterability and eternity inherent in the concept of the Pharaonic temple. The study of historic (or vernacular) architecture may also provide information beyond our current fundamental knowledge, and offer critical information to our modern community, such as the evidence of recurrent and important seismic activity during Antiquity. According to the physical model of tectonic plates, it is possible that ancient seismic activity could repeat itself in this part of the world.
