Abstract

Which religious office does the profession of record salesman correspond to? This question to be discussed in the following immediately leads us to a further, age-old question: what are the structural features of a good, politically justifiable counterculture – and is there even such a thing? Would it be comparable more to a religious sect, an avantgarde party, or a distinction-cultural elite – or is there an alternative to these three structures, each of which is problematic in its own way? Ultimately, the office of which I speak will find its own church, and we need to know what we want to learn from this circumstance.
