This study explores the concept and application of learner-centered leadership. Learner-centered leadership requires rethinking the purposes and actions of school leaders; its application implies new knowledge and skills for aspiring administrators and new models for professional development for those already on the job. The article investigates the Learner-centered Leadership (LCL) Program, a U.S. Department of Education funded program on administrator preparation and professional development. The experiences fostered in the LCL program are described and preliminary findings and program impacts are discussed.
