Analytical systems are developed to move towards better analytical quality, accuracy and/or security, more ease to users and possibly cost reduction. Centralised systems using collective laboratory competence applied to reference determination and calibration are presented as the most suitable. Combining both can lead to optimal analytical systems. The inventory of analytical method capabilities and technical tools developed up today shows the implementation for milk recording purposes is possible in ICAR countries minding preliminary studies. Such systems could serve also to monitor analytical devices in farm.
