In 2005 an important milestone was celebrated: the 10th anniversary of Interbull evaluations. The first Interbull evaluations covered only production and two breed groups, but services have expanded considerably to include six dairy breeds, five traits groups and 26 countries. Most recently the trait groups longevity and calving performance have been added to Interbull’s service portfolio. In addition, several technical improvements in the routine procedures have been implemented. The 10th anniversary was marked during the 2005 Interbull Meeting in Uppsala, Sweden, with presentations reflecting on the history and looking ahead at the future of Interbull. Two developments of strategic importance are international evaluations for female fertility, and a service for international evaluations of beef breeds and traits.
