The aim of this periodization is to provide a rough sense of when a dynasty ruled. I only mention the short-lived dynasties of the so-called Period of Disunion (220â589 CE) here if they are also mentioned in the main text. The so-called Period of the Five Dynasties (907â960 CE) did not yield relevant witchcraft cases and the dynasties from that period are not included here.
