Dans la fiction, la ville africaine devenue mÃ©gapole est souvent dÃ©crite comme un monde en dÃ©compositionâ; elle peut cependant se lire comme un Ã©cotone en effervescence, en admettant que son chaos soit transformÃ© par le dire et le faire dâune esthÃ©tique permettant dâaller au-delÃ de ce qui est un non-lieu, selon la proposition de Marc AugÃ©. Cette capacitÃ© de mÃ©tamorphose est envisagÃ©e dans le roman Tram 83 (2014) de Fiston Mwanza Mujila, tout en citant La Danse du Vilain (2020), dernier roman paru considÃ©rÃ© ici comme la duplication du premier. Il sâagit de questionner de supposÃ©es formes de transmutation, stratÃ©gies dâÃ©cart entre ce que met en scÃ¨ne le scÃ©nario et lâexpressivitÃ© formelle Ã lâÅuvre. Cette esthÃ©tique, alors que son caractÃ¨re Â«âjouissifâÂ» a souvent Ã©tÃ© relevÃ© par la presse et la critique, nous semble plutÃ´t relever dâun mimÃ©tisme sans destinataire, ce qui, finalement, compromet la possibilitÃ© dây reconnaÃ®tre lâexistence dâun Ã©cotone novateur.

Abstract

In fiction, the African city that has become a megacity is often described as a world in decay; it can, however, be read as an effervescent ecotone, admitting that its chaos is transformed by the words and the action of an aesthetic that allows us to go beyond what is a non-place, according to Marc AugÃ©âs proposal. This capacity for metamorphosis is envisaged in Fiston Mwanza Mujilaâs novel Tram 83 (2014), while also referring to La Danse du Vilain (2020), the authorâs last novel which one can consider as a duplication of the previous text. This article wants to question the supposed forms of transmutation, strategies of gaps between what the scenario stages and the formal expressiveness at work. While this aesthetic has often been described by the press and critics as transgressively âenjoyableâ (jouissif), seems to us rather correspond to a form of mimicry without an addressee, which, finally, compromises the possibility of recognising in the text the existence of an innovative ecotone.
