Abstract

In the conclusion to this volume, I offer an addendum to the theoretical models of power. Namely, I suggest that theoretical models which focus on a lack of expected power illuminate relationships in the ancient Near East in new ways. To examine this, I encourage the use of shatter zones. Not only does the application of this model assist in examining power relationships, but I suggest that it also helps to uncover social classes which are typically hidden from the modern scholar.
