Abstract

Chrysostom had interactions with various traditions. Biblical texts containing abnormal behavior or polemics raised moral questions for both believers and anti-Christian critics. In anti-Christian polemics, these texts suggested that Christianity was despisable and unworthy, while believers who took these texts seriously found themselves alienated due to such challenging tensions in the Bible. This study aims to explore how John Chrysostom dealt with these problems, particularly in his homilies on Genesis and Acts.
