Acknowledgments
The origin of this volume lies in the Twelfth Symposium Platonicum Pragense where the majority of the papers selected for this book were presented. Three chapters were written later and some papers underwent substantial changes before they were submitted. The original meeting would not have been possible without the financial support of the Czech Plato Society â the symposiumâs main organizer â and the University Centre for the Study of the Classical and Medieval Intellectual Tradition, Charles University, Prague. This latter also contributed to the creation of the monograph, alongside two further institutions: the Institute of Philosophy of the Czech Academy of Sciences and the Institute of Philosophy at University of Bern. Special thanks for the meticulous care and patience in proofreading of texts go to Michael Russo. We wish also to thank Helena Schoeb, editor in Philosophy at Brill, for her invaluable assistance and to both editors of the Plato Studies Series, Gábor Betegh and Gabriele Cornelli, for accepting the manuscript. Open access funding was provided by the University of Bern and swissuniversities.
