The project of this book started in 2019 when I stayed in Bielefeld for my research on journalism studies. Chaime Marcuello-Servós, the editor of Brill Research Perspectives in Sociocybernetics and Complexity, kindly suggested writing this book and gave me encouraging feedback on my early manuscript. During my work on this project, I could have opportunities to discuss some parts of this book in Zaragoza, Urbino, Tokyo, and online. This book has profoundly benefited from critical and constructive comments from three reviewers working in the field of sociocybernetics. Fortunately, before finalizing the manuscript, I could discuss the problem of information overload, which is one of the key topics of this book, in sociocybernetic sessions held in Melbourne and online. I appreciate all the support and encouragement from my friends and colleagues.
Finally, I dedicate my humble work to my partner, Yuko. We have been living together for over twenty years. Talking with her sometimes strikes me with a wake-up hammer from the slumber of my habitual thinking.
