This chapter addresses the principal initiatives taken by the local government of Antequera in order to improve the water supply between 1818 and 1932, within the context of the modernisation process of the municipal public services. These projects were characterised by the lack of continuity over time. The first, dating back to 1818, failed. The second, implemented between 1865 and 1867 gave rise to a substantial improvement in the water supply. The third and largest project, developed between 1929 and 1932 sought to fully introduce the modern water supply system.
