Abstract

The subject of this study is a comparative analysis of national financial education strategies of three out of the four countries making up the Visegrad Group, i.e., the Czech Republic, Hungary, and Slovakia. Its purpose is, first, to examine the scholarship regarding the potential impact of financial education on the desired market-driven behaviours of consumers and, second, to provide valuable insight from the experiences of countries that are already well advanced in implementing their educational strategies. The analysis focuses on such core elements of the strategy as its mission and priorities, the situation of the strategy’s steering centre within public administration, the level of involvement of various stakeholder groups in its implementation, the selection of social groups to be covered by such an education system, and the methods of measuring the educational effects.
