Abstract

This paper results from a literary-philological tracing of the representations and metamorphoses of a biblical female figure, Rahab the Harlot, in Muslim sources. Its essential argument is that although not explicitly mentioned in early Muslim tradition, interestingly enough, Rahabâs figure resonates in various embodiments within historiographical accounts dealing with the destruction of the First Temple and perhaps also in a tradition focused on the prophet Ezekiel.
