Abstract

There is abundant evidence that African national human rights institutions and Courts strongly support the universality of human rights and the application of international human rights norms in Africa, alongside the norms of the African Charter on Human and Peoples’ Rights. Leading African courts, such as the South African Constitutional Court have consistently upheld the validity of international human rights norms, as this chapter will show.
